Nobel Prize Winner
Muhammad Yunus was solely dedicated to helping those who are desperately in need of being helped. In 1976, Muhammad Yunus had the idea of lending money to a villager that was in need of $2 to complete a project she was working on. Muhammad Yunus kept the process going of lending people his own money and in 1983 the Grameen Bank was founded in Bangladesh. Muhammad Yunus took a great risk by lending money to people he knew would not be able to pay it back or have any type of collateral. Even though the average loan to a borrower from this bank is $75, in Bangladesh that is a lot of money. But these people receiving the loans are very talented at making things and could make an income on selling what they decide to use the $75 towards.
The Grameen bank doesn’t just lend money, they also teach responsibility and discipline to its borrowers. A group of five people is sent to do training which lasts for a week. The training consists of building latrines, boil water, practice family planning and educate their children. This training process can really come in handy for those who are poor in Bangladesh because they haven’t been taught the right way to take care of themselves let alone their families. But the Grameen Bank, Grameen meaning “rural area,” can now be found in over 18,000 of Bangladesh’s 68,000 villages. Over 90% of the over 5.3 million borrowers in Bangladesh are women.
The support that the Grameen Bank has showed some of the countries poorest people is extraordinary. Not only do they lend money and teach necessary essentials, they have also built over 85,000 houses for people the people of Bangladesh. The residents usually add on to the housing by making their walls out of bamboo sticks. For around $300 the residents home is built with four cement pillars, a tin roof to have something over the residents head, and a latrine outside of the house for the resident to use as a restroom. These houses can protect the residents from floods and cyclones. Most of these people haven’t had a chance to live in a house that is able to stand up to these conditions.
Muhammad Yunus once said “People can change their own live, provided they have the right kind of institutional support. They are not asking for charity; charity is no solution to poverty. Reducing poverty is the creation of opportunities like everybody else has, so people can change their lives. We didn’t do anything special - all we did was lend to the poor people and that makes the trick. That makes the change.” These are strong words coming from a strong person. Muhammad Yunus realized that poor people have a chance to maintain themselves but they just need the right inspiration from the right individuals. As long as they are willing to train and pay the money back that they owe. Muhammad Yunus’ practices came in handy so much that there are now over 100 other countries using the same methods as Yunus used in his home country of Bangladesh.
And finally, in 2006 Muhammad Yunus and the Grameen Bank received the Nobel Peace Prize “for their efforts create economic and social development from below.” Muhammad Yunus and his accomplishments will always be remember as one of the most powerful world movements to get poor people back onto their feet. Not only did he lend out his own money but he also taught these people how to take care of themselves and also gave some of these people a stable house to live under. Now if more people in this world could think the same as Muhammad Yunus, we would all live in a more peaceful and a poverty free world.Muhammad Yunus is a recent Nobel Peace Prize winner. He was born June 28, 1940 in the seaport city of Chittagong, British India which is now known as Bangladesh. Professor Muhammad Yunus, with his modest, funny, and energetic attitude, went to school in the capital city of Bangladesh at Dhaka University before attending Vanderbilt University on a Fulbright Scholarship to study economics. In 1969, Professor Muhammad Yunus received his Ph.D. in economics from Vanderbilt. He later returned to Bangladesh to become the head of the economics department at Chittagong University. From the years 1993-1995, Muhammad Yunus was a member of the International Advisory Group for the Fourth World Conference on women and has also served on the Global Commissions of Women’s Health.

Thanksgiving Weekend
On Thanksgiving morning i had to attend to work from 6am to 1pm. I wasent excited for work but i was getting paid time and a half so i wasent complaining. After work i picked up my daughter Kaydence and we went over to my moms house and watched some football. While watching football i helped my mom get the food ready for the afternoon. While waiting for things to cook we drank a little bit and played cards with the rest of our family. When my family gets together we always have a blast and sometimes have too much fun and end up getting in trouble. The food got done cooking and we sat down and prayed before we dished ourselves. The meal was awsome eating turkey, candied yams, stuffing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy, and afterwards we finished off the meal by having pumpkin pie. Overall my turkey day was great being able to spend time with my family and my daughter.

My Narrative
Kaydence LeAnne Tanke
January 11, 2008 at 1:23 p.m., my beautiful daughter was born. Kaydence LeAnne Tanke was 6 lbs. 12 oz. and 19 inches long. I couldn’t have felt more proud from when I first got to meet and hold my baby girl. I will never forget the day my beautiful daughter was born, it was the best moment of my life.
At the hospital, we had a lot of company and support from many of our family and friends. During the long exciting wait of the labor, we had the love and support of many including the following; My mother, and my girlfriends parents, aunt, and grandmother. As well as a few more family members in the waiting room all anxiously awaiting the arrival. We were able to stay two nights at the hospital and had many visitors. Many of our friends stopped up to see my new baby girl. I was very appreciative of my friends who came and showed their support. On our last night of our hospital stay, the nurses took Kaydence so my girlfriend and I could have a nice dinner together alone. The tips and gravy dinner they had brought us was very good, but I really just couldn’t wait to hold my baby girl again. I will never forget these 2 wonderful days of my life.
After our two night stays at the hospital, it was finally time for us to go and be much comfort at home. The day we arrived home my strong baby was already lifting her head. She was so amazing at everything she did. Bath time was my favorite. She loved lying and playing in the nice warm water. My favorite though, was when we took her out to dry because all her daddy’s curls would come out. They were adorable. At the time, my new family was living at my girlfriends parent’s house so we had plenty of help and support at home. After a few months, we finally got our own place to call home so we could really start to be a family. It was really nice to be in the comfort of our own home. I really love my family.
Today, my daughter is already almost 3 years old and I enjoy every minute of everyday with who is still, and always will be my baby girl. Kaydence is so smart she just seems to amaze me with something new everyday. She has the biggest vocabulary for a two year old. We can have and hold conversations. She definitely has attitude already though. As of today, my daughters favorite show on television is Icarly, which is funny because she is only two years old. It is a pretty funny show though, and I always get laughs out of it. Right now we are in the potty training process. So far she is doing very well. Only a few accidents, but she’s getting better everyday and now only wears diapers for bed. I couldn’t be more proud of her.
Kaydence LeAnne Tanke, my beautiful daughter, is the love of my life and I would do anything for her. From day one at the hospital we have had the love and support of many friends and family. I really appreciate all my family does for me. Without their support I don’t know what I would do. I would do anything for my daughter and cant wait to see what new things will come our way. Everyday is a new experience and wouldn’t take anything back. From the moment Kaydence was born I have never felt a stronger bond. I love my daughter more than anything, and will never forget the best moment of my life when she was born.

The Past Week
On tuesday after class my friend called me and asked me if i would like to go up to Minneapolis to go to a Wiz Khalifa concert. I said of course i'll go. The tickets were only $25 and i coulden't turn the offer down. We got to the cities early and decided to go to a movie around the corner until it was time to go the to concert. After the movie we walked back down to 1st ave to see if they were letting people in yet. Once we got in we waited for about 10 minutes until Wiz came doing what he does best. After the concert we took a little trip to White Castle to get some food and then went to the house we were all staying at. I got home wednesday about an hour before i had to go to work. Once i was finally done with work i went home to spend the rest of the day with my daughter. On thursday i came to class and spent time with my daughter as well. Friday and saturday were dedicated to working. Friday and saturday i had shifts at my job and worked on my music for the rest of the day. On sunday i watched football all day.

Sunday
Sunday was another fun filled day. It was the first Sunday that the NFL was on. I dont like any of the teams that were playing but it has been so long since i got to watch football that it still made my day. We went over to a friends parents crib to kick it, drink, and watch the games. His parents crib is almost like a mansion with a pool, a big grill, and a hotub so we really enjoyed the entire day. Even though my team is 0-1 im still confident that we will achieve what it is that we want to achieve. GO VIKINGS!!
This Last Saturday
This last Saturday was very fun. Filled with working hard and playing even harder. I was working in the morning so it gave me the rest of the day to do what i wanted. That night went to some place called "Dodge" where we kicked it under a shelter until the police came. A couple people got busted for underage drinking but i somehow dident get breathalized. I dont get to go out that much so it was definatly a fun time.
My Labor Day weekend
My Labor Day weekend was all about working and learning how to use my new mixer for recording my music. On Friday night I worked a short 4-9 shift at Sears. It was a short shift but it was such a boring night. There was nothing to do but sweep the floors and throw some garbage away. Good thing I had another co-worker there with me to occupy me for the duration of my shift. Once I was finally finished with my shift I went to my house so I could start messing around with my new mixer. On Saturday morning I started work at 8 a.m. and got done at 11 a.m. because we only had a few stops for delivery. Once I was finished with work the rest of my day was dedicated to writing the rest of a song that I recently started working on. On Sunday I went over to my mothers house to spend the day with her. We played a few card game with some friends and later ate dinner. Overall my Labor Day weekend was pretty much the same as any other weekend but it was still fun.
